Indie Tuesday – Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks

Hello, Hello.  Another day, another product to try out and today I thought I would talk about the Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks.  For those not from New Zealand, or for those who don’t know, Antipodes is a company from New Zealand that works primarily in skin care but who also has some beautiful makeup products such as these lipsticks.  They are all about using naturally derived New Zealand ingredients, and through the use of science, they formulate these to be superfood for your skin.  This ensures that when you buy Antipodes, you are getting the highest quality ingredients, formulas and assurance that your skin will thank you for it.

I am a huge fan of Antipodes skincare as well as these lipsticks having used their Hosanna H20 Intensive skin Plumping Serum (here), the Apostle skin Brightening Serum (here), the Avocado and Pear Nourishing Night Cream (here) and the Aura Manuka Honey Mask (here).  If you would like me to chat about those too, let me know down below.  They are all lovely!

Anyway, I have rambled a little so here we go with the lippies down below, I’m going to chat about the packaging, ingredients and colour to give a full review on what I think about them!

Packaging.

These lipsticks (12 shades total by the way) come in these cute little illustrated packets.  These have flower designs coming from the corners into the centres which are super pretty.  This is supposed to reflect New Zealand and our beautiful natural environment.

The next part is the actual lipstick.  They all come in a matte black stick with the Antipodes logo on the side and a Tui bird illustration on the top of the lid.  There’s also the phrase on the side saying “I’m so healthy…” and then when you open the lid, the rest of the phase is revealed saying “…you could eat me”.  I think this is such a nice touch, to include the lipsticks slogan in this way.  I also like the fact that they allude to it being all beautifully natural and show that the formula itself is good for you and is really going to nourish your lips.

Ingredients

These are literally packed with ingredients that are going to help nourish the skin and help your lips stay plumped and moisturised all day without feeling uncomfortable or dry.  These are full of lip and skin loving oils such as castor oil, avocado oil, evening primrose oil, argan oil, jojoba oil and soybean oil.  All of these oils are going to hydrate your lips and help them to remain soft and not crack under the lipstick.  The vitamin E and shea butter in the formula will moisturise and hydrate as well as make the formula slide on smoothly and easily when applying it to the lips.

They also have candelilla wax, beeswax and carnauba wax to ensure that they are long wearing.  It is unusual to find something long-wearing and nourishing at the same time.  It feels like often you have to choose one or the other, so it’s really nice to get something that does both!

Colour

I got three colours to play with.  I already had Oriental Bay Plum, but I also got Boom Rock Bronze and Remarkable Red.  These are all named after New Zealand locations, so it’s cool to get a shade based on somewhere you’ve actually been to!

One – Oriental Bay Plum

I am such a fan of this colour.  It looks really dark in the actual lipstick, but it can be sheered out to a stain-like look, or worn as a fully pigmented intense colour.  I like how easy this colour was to apply and it didn’t require any work to get it to a nice opacity.

I wore this lipstick yesterday with a brown smokey eye too, and it looked absolutely great with those shadow colours!

Colour Two – Boom Rock Bronze

This is such a beautiful warm nude-ish colour that I am totally obsessed with.  Again this worked beautifully, the pigmentation was there, the formula was amazing and comfortable.  I think this colour is going to look good with most of my other makeup, but I think it’s going to be absolutely stunning with a warm red eye look, so I can’t wait to see them together.

Colour Three – Remarkably Red

I really like this colour, but so did my Mother so she’s decided that it’s hers.  She was kind enough to allow me to use it for this post however so here it is.  This is a beautiful rosy shade that is the kind which works with every look you could produce.  It has a slight purple hue to it too, meaning that it does look better on Mum than it does on me (as I suit more of the bronze shades like above), but it is still so stunning

Final Thoughts

Antipodes Bag!

I love these lipsticks!  I think the formula is fantastic, the shade range is really nice, they are really beautiful long wearing and they are customisable depending on how much coverage you want to get out of them.

At $37 (on the Antipodes Website here) and $34 (at Farmers here), they are a similar price to Mac Lipsticks, and honestly, these are better for your lips so I can’t complain about that.  And when I bought them at Farmers yesterday, I got a cute little bag with the two that I bought due to a buy two, get this bag special they’ve got going at the moment.  Cute huh?  I really like the pretty charms!

Thank you for reading everyone!  I know that was a long post but I wanted to show a few different colours and chat through how awesome the formula and brand is.
